MAC 5 Services Electrical Technicians Hailed as Heroes After Rescuing Woman From Car Crash

For most technicians, a typical day on the road means heading from one service call to the next. For MAC 5 Services technicians Kenny and Travis, one drive through Palm Bay suddenly became something much more serious.

While stopped at a traffic light, the two watched a crash unfold directly in front of them. One of the vehicles flipped on impact, leaving a woman trapped inside.

There was no time to discuss or hesitate. Kenny and Travis immediately got out of their service van and ran toward the overturned vehicle.

“We didn’t really have time to think about it. We just knew someone needed help,” Kenny said. “When you see someone in that situation, you do whatever you can. We’re just thankful we were there and that everyone was okay.”

Responding When Help Was Needed Most

As another person at the scene began helping occupants of the other vehicle, Kenny and Travis focused on the overturned car. The woman inside needed help getting out, and the technicians quickly realized they would need another way to reach her. They broke a window, got into the vehicle, and helped pull her to safety.

For Kenny and Travis, the moment was less about making a decision and more about reacting to what was happening in front of them.

“Everything happened so quickly,” Travis said. “Our only concern was making sure she was okay and getting her out. We were just doing what we hope anyone would do for someone who needed help.”

According to the technicians, everyone involved in the crash was ultimately okay.

A Moment That Could Have Gone Unnoticed

Kenny and Travis did not stop to help because no one was watching, and they did not expect recognition afterward. In fact, MAC 5 Services may not have learned the full story if another driver at the scene had not reached out.

That bystander had also stopped to help and later contacted MAC 5 specifically because he wanted the company to know how its technicians had responded. He recalled seeing many other vehicles continue around the crash while only a handful of people stopped.

“Of a million cars, it was me, them, and I think one or two other people who actually bothered to get out of their car instead of driving around,” the bystander said.

He also described seeing Kenny and Travis jump into action as “awesome to see actual humans react like humans.”

That outside perspective made the moment especially meaningful. What Kenny and Travis saw as simply helping someone in need stood out to a stranger enough that he felt compelled to make sure their employer heard about it.
