Signs You Need Heater Repairs

Make sure your heater is in tip-top shape before the cold weather arrives in Brevard County. Schedule heater repairs with Mac 5 Services as soon as you see symptoms of malfunctioning. Some signs can include:

  • Uneven heating: Is your home feeling drafty or unevenly heated? This could indicate clogged air filters, dirty vents, or failing components in your furnace that prevent proper airflow and heat distribution.
  • Strange noises: Unusual noises like banging, popping, clicking, or whining can signal loose parts, failing bearings, or a malfunctioning blower motor.
  • Short-cycling: If your furnace frequently turns on and off in short bursts without reaching the desired temperature, it could be caused by a faulty thermostat, malfunctioning limit switches, or a clogged condensate drain.
  • Pilot light issues: If you have a gas furnace, a flickering or extinguished pilot light can indicate problems with the gas supply, thermocouple, or ignition system.
  • Unusual odors: A burning odor could indicate electrical problems or overheating. If you detect a gas odor, shut off your heater immediately and call a qualified technician for a safety inspection.
  • Visible damage: Cracks in the heat exchanger, loose electrical connections, or signs of rust or corrosion can all be safety hazards. Repairs or replacements might be necessary to ensure the safe operation of your heater.
  • Carbon monoxide concerns: If you suspect a carbon monoxide leak or experience symptoms like headaches, nausea, and dizziness, evacuate your home immediately and call 911. While a full system replacement may be necessary in severe cases, repairs can address the source of the leak and ensure your safety.

If you notice these signs in your Brevard County home, call our local heating service company for same-day service. We also offer transparent pricing and a range of financing options to help fit your budget.

When’s the Best Time of Year For Heater Installations?

When you need to schedule a heater installation or heater replacement, the best time of year to do it is in the fall, before the weather starts to cool:

  • Milder temperatures: You should schedule installations in the fall or spring when the weather is mild. That way, you’ll be ready in case there’s a rare cold snap in central Florida.
  • More flexibility: Spring and fall are typically less busy for HVAC technicians than the peak summer cooling season. This translates to shorter wait times for installation scheduling and better deals.
  • Better safe than sorry: While it is rare, temperatures in Florida can dip into the 40s and even the 30s overnight, especially during January and February. While these cold snaps don’t last long, it’s always better to be prepared for a few chilly nights than to be uncomfortable.

Most Common Furnace Problems in Florida

Get help from a trusted local heating contractor when your furnace malfunctions. Our furnace service company encounters numerous types of problems in Brevard County, including:

  • Clogged air filters: A clogged air filter is a common culprit behind furnace inefficiency. Regularly replacing your air filter every 1-3 months allows for optimal airflow, maximizes heating performance, and can potentially lower your energy bills.
  • Extend the lifespan of the heater: Regular maintenance is an investment in your furnace’s longevity. Our technicians can perform inspections and tune-ups to keep your furnace operating efficiently for years.
  • Proper heating: If your home isn’t reaching the desired temperature despite thermostat adjustments, there might be an issue with the thermostat itself or its communication with your furnace.
  • Maintain optimal airflow: Proper airflow is crucial for efficient furnace operation. Blocked vents, dirty air ducts, or furniture obstructing vents can disrupt airflow and cause your furnace to overheat.
  • Carbon monoxide leaks: Carbon monoxide is a serious health hazard. If you suspect a leak or experience symptoms like headaches, nausea, or dizziness, evacuate your home immediately and call 911. A qualified technician can inspect your furnace to identify the source of the leak and ensure your home’s safety.

Robert was here today and efficiently cleared clogs in my sink and my shower. Chuck was here today to do the annual plumbing review. When I mentioned that my garbage disposal wasn't working, he immediately checked it, found the problem, and fixed it. I am always impressed by the quality of MAC-5's service. Mark was here this week to help me with a clogged sink. Although he tried, the problem was more complicated than we expected. While Mark correctly diagnosed the problem, it required more sophisticated tools than he had on hand. MAC-5 sent out Robert 2 days later with the equipment that Mark identified was needed, and the clog was completely removed. James at MAC-5 just disconnected the water line to my refrigerator for me. It was working fine, but there is a kink in the line in the refrigerator, so I haven't been getting water or ice for over a year now, and occasionally it would leak a bit. It was a lot less expensive to cap the water line than to have the refrigerator repaired. James was on time, efficient, and has a good sense of humor.
